Last but not least: One, two and over

"Do you understand fun?" my ass: ZDF took unequivocal action against a planned party in Aarau. With success.

Specifically, it was about the 80s and 90s party series "Time of my Life" at the Aarau cultural venue Kiff. During the Christmas party, the team had the idea of organizing a special edition under the motto of the cult show "1, 2 or 3". As producer Raphael Schimmel explains to Radio Argovia, the idea was to revive the show with 80s and 90s questions, i.e. to play the games from the children's show in a party setting.

That actually sounds pretty funny. Or would have sounded funny. Because the Kiff team had done the math without ZDF. They got in touch by phone soon afterwards and canceled the party without further ado. It was a protected show - if they wanted to hold the party, they would have to license it. Which, according to Schimmel, would have been "a relatively expensive thing". On the Kiff website there is talk of a "horrendous amount".

The team was actually already aware that the show was protected before the short phone call. But: "To be honest, we didn't think that ZDF would go to the trouble of calling us to ban it." They did. But you could try. The party on February 28 will now take place under the usual name "Time of my Life".

Let's just hope that Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes don't call next and reclaim the title "Time of my Life". Otherwise the dance canton of Aargau will never be at peace. (hae)
