FROM BEAT FRITSCHHappy birthday and welcome to the Radio 105 show," was the message at the zoo last week. It was the third anniversary of the founding of the radio station for the young target audience. The station actually seems to be following the same path as Radio "Roschee", also known as Reydio Twentifohr. Want some examples? Like the former radio pirate, One-O-Five boss Giuseppe Scaglione also broadcasts from the underground. Radio 105 can only be received via cable.
And just like the wind- and weather-tested troupe from Pizzo Groppera in the past, the Hundred and Fives are also relying on public pressure. A petition with around 60,000 signatures has just been submitted to ensure that the youth station is also available via antenna, if you please. The only question is when the radio disciples will once again demonstrate on Bürkliplatz for general freedom on the airwaves.
There was a reason why the birthday party was held at the zoo. Experience has shown that the guests of Radio 105 like to put the tiger in the tank, let the bears loose and let the pig out and then all get a monkey at some point. In addition, cute and mostly smartly dressed dancing mice pirouette in the strobe lights and male camels trample everything that seems to be in their way on the way to the watering hole.
Even the day after, some people must have marveled at the diversity of the urban panopticon of animals. From the light hum of a skull - a swarm of mosquitoes! - to a full-blown hangover. Not to mention the fact that one partygoer might have had to accommodate a cuddly bear the next morning and another partygoer a wild cat in his cave. And in view of the steaming heat in the zoo - DJ Antoine was heating things up - the shortlist author only dreamed of a beautiful polar bear existence in the Arctic Ocean.
A word about the location: the new generation of advertisers are of course aware that the venue was not the animal enclosures on the Zürichberg, but the in-disco opposite the Bauschänzli beer bar. This was only because at previous events, older people had already made the pilgrimage to the zoo. Just as an aside: OMD's Eric Müller, Seiler DDB CD Markus Cavegn and Matthias Luchsinger from Cinecom or RMB Switzerland, as the cinema marketer has recently been called, have long since understood this.
Although they were not present at the 105 party, the aforementioned gentlemen occasionally meet up at the disco on the banks of the Limmat under the motto "Let's go watch animals". Speaking of Cinecom/RMB - and to heat up the rumor mill once again: some industry insiders were surprised that few or no representatives of the Radio 105 marketer were present, whereas their competitor IP Multimedia with the new marketing manager Claudia Faeh, the consultants Marzio Frei and Dominik Schrag and other employees had an almost omnipresent presence. And the fact that Michi Frank was also seen at the clandestine drinks reception shortly before the event, together with a well-known headhunter and a viable candidate, may indicate that the new IP Multimedia CEO is looking to expand his team for some reason.
As midnight approached and the party reached its climax, new guests kept joining the party crowd so that the zoo was still bursting at the seams late into the night. Yes - don't the young people of today actually have to go to bed anymore?
Last week, BEAT FRITSCH booked a safari in Zurich's party jungle, more precisely in the current In-Place Zoo, where Radio 105 had invited guests to join in the wild goings-on. Conclusion: Zurich's party lowlands have it all.
