Migros Geneva launches new organic store format with French partner

The Migros Cooperative Geneva is entering into a partnership with the large French retailer Groupe Casino and its organic subsidiary Naturalia. This writes the Handelszeitung in its current issue.

Under the name "Nature &", a first shop-in-shop branch was opened in the Balexert shopping center in Geneva. "Migros Geneva is missing out on organic sales of 20 million francs a year due to shopping tourism and strong Coop competition. We had to come up with something new here," a Migros Geneva executive told the Handelszeitung.

The assortment of Nature & amounts to about 7000 articles, "about half comes from Naturalia, the rest from Alnatura, Bio Partner and local producers," says the Migros cooperative in western Switzerland. Nature & has the potential to expand, they say: "If the results of the first test run remain good, expansion is up for discussion. We are talking about this with our colleagues from other cooperatives in western Switzerland." For German-speaking Switzerland, the Handelszeitung According to the company, no expansion is planned.
