20 Minuten and Samsung produce exclusive design edition

Innovative design deserves innovative communication: To mark the sales launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8, the commuter newspaper 20 Minuten is appearing today in a unique new look. The design edition, created by Jung von Matt/Limmat, the newspaper with the widest reach in Switzerland, is intended to surprise readers and arouse curiosity.

Bright colors, surprising graphics and serif typeface - that's how artfully today's 20 Minutes print edition is presented in German and French-speaking Switzerland. The reason for the special edition of the commuter newspaper is a cooperation with the smartphone manufacturer Samsung. Today is the official sales launch of the Galaxy S8 in Switzerland. The state-of-the-art "Infinity Display" of the new S8 comes almost without a frame and even without a physical home button. "The design of the new Samsung Galaxy S8 is a small revolution in the smartphone industry. We are proud of our latest product and want to share that with the Swiss. We are therefore all the more pleased that we have found a strong and innovative partner in 20 Minuten, with whom we can break new ground," explains Heiko Brunner, Head of Marketing at Samsung Switzerland.

Marco Boselli, Editor-in-Chief of 20 Minuten and Head of Journalism & Processes Commuter Media at Tamedia, is excited about the experiment: "As the only daily newspaper in Switzerland with a national circulation, we want to constantly reinvent ourselves and inspire readers with exciting, informative and entertaining content. This applies to the content as well as to advertising implementations. The design issue in cooperation with Samsung was a great challenge for all departments - from editorial to production. If we surprise the Swiss audience with it, we will have achieved our goal."

The idea for the design edition comes from Jung von Matt/Limmat. The agency is accompanying the entire launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 in Switzerland. "No newspaper in Switzerland has more clout than 20 Minuten," says Dennis Lück, Chief Creative Officer at Jung von Matt/Limmat, "We knew our idea was bold. But we believe in ideas that conquer and that's why we brought strong partners on board."

The renowned Lucerne-based Studio Feixen is responsible for the design of the special edition. The collective around Felix Pfäffli, Raphael Leutenegger and Daniel Peter has already designed covers for the MIT Technology Review, Wired Magazine or the New York Times Magazine, among others.
