"Unknown calls from afar" - Helvetas campaign awarded a prize

As part of SwissFundraisingDay, guests voted for the most creative fundraising campaign of 2020/2021 Among three nominees, the joint year-end campaign "The world is calling" by Helvetas and Ferris Bühler Communications came out on top.

The campaign wins the Swissfundraising Award Audience Award for the most creative action. It drew on the new normal created by the Corona pandemic and made digital proximity and solidarity possible despite social distancing. The Baden-based storytelling agency and the Swiss development organization created an emotional concept around real video calls from around the world, in which people affected by poverty tell their personal stories and ask viewers to support their peers during this challenging time.

Emotional video calls with personal stories

For the campaign, Helvetas and Ferris Bühler Communications produced emotional video calls with four protagonists. These were present in December 2020 in all public transport vehicles of the Zurich public transport company as well as with a versatile online campaign and a PR stunt on Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich.

"For us, it was very nice to implement an emotional campaign in which people in our partner countries themselves had their say. We are extremely pleased that we were able to convince both our donors and the audience at SwissFundraisingDay with positive, authentic stories," says Christina Meyer, Head Performance Marketing at Helvetas.
