Galaxus promotes secondhand feature with new campaign

Galaxus launched its new campaign on Monday. The second-hand feature will be advertised in German-speaking Switzerland up to and including March 11.

Since the end of October 2017, customers have been able to resell products purchased from Digitec.ch or Galaxus.ch at the same location: The skateboards, flashlights, blenders or smartphones then appear in the online stores with the note "Used". The campaign comprises a total of nine subjects; from the trusty but then too weak cordless screwdriver to the copper pan that was used far too rarely in the kitchen. The slogan: "Bought at galaxus.ch - sold at galaxus.ch/secondhand". Online banners are also used. In these, the border between used and new can be moved with the mouse.

Hanging boxes in public transport, online banners, print advertisements, posters and e-boards, social media and the company's own websites are used as advertising media.

The resale feature was launched in fall 2017 and has already proven to be a success: Since the launch, Digitec Galaxus customers have resold several thousand used products on Digitec or Galaxus. The new campaign now aims to raise awareness of the service among the general public.

The big advantage of the second-hand feature: The seller does not have to categorize his product, he simply selects the item from his list in the customer account under the heading "Sell products". All that is then required is information on the condition of the item and the desired selling price. Sellers have the option of uploading additional photos of their listings. The items then appear in the online store with the note "Used". Selling via Digitec or Galaxus is also attractive because of their reach: the two online stores were visited over 80 million times in 2017. And more than one million Swiss residents shop with the market leader at least once a year. They are all potential users of the new service.
