Throughout Switzerland, a total of ten artists will be promoting the various benefits of the move to DAB+ starting Monday. In addition to the four previous acts Stress, Francine Jordi, Gotthard and Pegasus, Stefanie Heinzmann, Seven, Lo & Leduc, Hecht, Dabu Fantastic and Carrousel are now also carrying train boxes. "Radio is vital for us Swiss musicians," says David Bucher of Dabu Fantastic, explaining his commitment. "That's why we're happy to help move radio to DAB+, where more reception and a wide variety of stations in the best digital quality are made possible."

Advantages of DAB+ staged

In the second wave of the four-language campaign, the Swiss acts continue to convey the main message "Radio is moving" and now specifically point out the individual advantages: more stations, better sound, more reception and larger broadcast areas. The artists are in action on numerous billboards, in radio and TV spots, on online and social media channels, and in radio interviews. The campaign by communications agency Republica on behalf of the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) is supported by both SRG and private radio stations. DAB+ is also teaming up with equipment manufacturer Pure and retail partners melectronics and Eigitec. The first wave of the campaign was launched in June (Werbewoche.ch reported).

Young people are also increasingly turning to DAB+

DAB+ continues to be a success in Switzerland. Radio of the future now accounts for 32 percent of total radio usage, an increase of 9 percentage points since fall 2015. This is the result of a study by the DigiMig (Digital Migration) working group, which was presented on August 24 at the Swiss Radio Day in Zurich. In the last six months alone, DAB+ increased by 6 percentage points overall. DAB+ recently saw a particularly strong increase among people aged 15 to 34, whose DAB+ usage increased by 9 percentage points compared to fall 2016. And the radio of the future has also developed positively recently among females - where a striking increase of 8 percentage points can be seen. On the road, too, more and more people are opting for better sound and reception; use of DAB+ in the car recently climbed to 29 percent.

DAB+ is expected to be the radio standard in Switzerland by 2020, and analog broadcasting will definitely be replaced in a few years. Today, around 130 radio stations can already be received in Switzerland via the digital terrestrial transmission technology DAB+ - and more are being received all the time.
