Christian Wanner leaves Leshop.ch

CEO and co-founder Christian Wanner is relinquishing operational management of Migros subsidiary LeShop.ch at the end of September 2013, but will remain on the Board of Directors.

Together with entrepreneurs Alain Nicod, Jesús Martin Garcia and Rémi Walbaum, Christian Wanner founded LeShop.ch at the age of 27 in a commercial space in Lausanne. The team was strengthened in 2000 with Dominique Locher (Marketing and Sales), in 2003 with Marcelo Alé (IT) and in 2004 with Sacha Herrmann (Finance, HR and Logistics). The partnership and acquisition of the majority of shares in 2006 by the Migros Group marked the beginning of a multi-year phase of innovation and triggered an expansion with annual growth averaging 30 percent. Under Christian Wanner, the Leshop.ch team developed new concepts for online grocery with a great deal of pioneering spirit. These included the establishment of two logistics centers, the introduction of express shipping of frozen products and supermarket apps for tablet and smartphone. The most recent coups were the opening of the first Leshop.ch Drive pick-up center in Studen BE last October and, in partnership with SBB, the birth of Leshop.ch Rail with pick-up points at Zurich and Lausanne stations.

Christian Wanner will devote himself to new projects after taking some time off and will remain active as an entrepreneur. "Together with my long-time GL colleagues Dominique Locher, Sacha Herrmann and Marcelo Alé, we were able to awaken this special Leshop spirit, a Feu Sacré, in many employees and partners. Now I'm looking forward to passing on this fire and know that the foundation for a successful future is solid, so that we can continue to inspire our loyal clientele with plenty of convenience."
