How an advertising poster became a design

The Campari bottle with the slogan "Every drop an original" hung in the Welti-Furrer parking garage in Zurich for two months. Designers Francesco Rossi, Sonja Trachsel and Tanja Klein each used it to create a collection of five accessories - trendy, practical and elegant pieces.

The advertising poster for Italian spirits manufacturer Campari was 158.5 square meters in size. The three Swiss fashion designers used it to create handbags, rucksacks and bags, as well as accessories such as a bottle bag and a designer fan. And so the Campari Design Collection was born from the advertising banner that adorned the Welti Furrer parking garage in Zurich West in September. A creative contribution to the theme of sustainability, which has just been presented to the public at the Christophe Guye Gallery.

What sounds simple was initially a shock for Sonja Trachsel from Vaud: "When I realized the size of my part of the poster, I panicked. Over 50m2 in a 20m2 studio. In the end, I had to spread it out on a meadow and cut it to size." Zurich designer Francesco Rossi - the creator of the famous Rossi bags - had fewer problems with the size. But: "Integrating the color gradient of the poster into the models was difficult. However, this clearly shows that each model is unique." The recycling theme also fits in perfectly with his new pet recycling line. Tanja Klein from Basel used leather to make her bags from blache. For her, who usually only works with leather, the plastic sheet was the biggest challenge. However, she is more than satisfied with the result: "My Campari Design Collection combines unusual material with my own design language."

All the design objects can be purchased via the designers' sales channels.
