Gianna Blum and Christian Favre now head communications at the EDI

Federal Councilor Alain Berset has appointed Gianna Blum as the new co-head and Christian Favre as the new co-head of communications at the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA).

Christian Favre and Gianna Blum will assume their functions on September 1, 2022.

Gianna Blum has been Federal House Editor of the newspaper for two and a half years View. Before that, the 35-year-old Bernese worked as an online editor at the Swiss Red Cross and as co-head of the Bern/Online department of the newspaper "Der Bund". She studied political science at the University of Bern and graduated with a master's degree in political and economic philosophy.

Christian Favre has been Deputy Head of EDI Communications since March 2020. He has headed it on an interim basis since June 2022. Prior to that, the 46-year-old Fribourg native served as delegate for external relations for the canton of Fribourg and in various functions at Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS), including as co-producer of the Forum program and deputy head of politics in Bern. He studied history at the University of Fribourg and holds a doctorate.

Gianna Blum and Christian Favre are taking over from Peter Lauener as Head of DHA Communications. Peter Lauener has worked as a communications advisor in the FDHA General Secretariat since 2012, and as Head of Communications since August 2019.
