Faces now also appears in pocket format

Faces, the Swiss unisex lifestyle magazine, is now also available in pocket format. With the smaller format, the publisher hopes to attract additional readers in a mobile, urban target group.

The new format is Faces' response to the increasing mobility of urban readers, according to a press release issued on Tuesday. The aim is to find space in a ladies' handbag or a tablet computer bag.

While pocket formats have been firmly established in the magazine landscape in the USA for decades and are also becoming increasingly popular in Germany, not a single lifestyle title has been published in pocket format in Switzerland before, according to the press release.

Stefan Berger, publishing director and co-publisher: "Our typical reader is 30 years old, works in a large economic area and is often on the move, both professionally and privately. She can easily take the pocket edition with her wherever she goes and pick it up whenever she needs it. This gives readers more flexibility in their media usage and increases the likelihood that the magazine will be read. Ultimately, advertisers also benefit from this with their advertising message."

The pocket edition was already tested in Germany in June/July of this year in cooperation with over 200 boutiques. Reader feedback on the smaller format was so good that the publisher has now decided to bring the pocket format to newsstands in Switzerland. A launch at newsstands in Germany is planned for the October issue.

Facts about the Faces Switzerland pocket edition:

- Dimensions: 168 x 219 mm
- Retail price at newsstands: CHF 3.50 (identical to the normal issue)
- Circulation: Test circulation of 5,000 (in addition to the normal circulation of 40,000). The final circulation for 2013 will be decided in November
