ESB team wins silver at Tortour Challenge

For the first time, the ESB Marketing Network sent two teams to the "Tortour" bike race. After 520 kilometers, including 8000 meters of altitude, a team from ESB Marketing Network cycled their way to second place.

The race with start and finish in Zurich demands a lot: In one day, a 520-kilometer non-stop race course over several Alpine passes in Switzerland is mastered on the Tortour Challenge. 8000 meters of altitude are divided among three riders. Equipped with a headlamp, they then set off in the middle of the night and at dawn over the San Bernardino, Gotthard and Klausen passes - on two wheels.

The ESB Marketing Network entered two teams at the same time and showed that there are decision-makers in the marketing industry with exceptional athletic performance. The "Team ESB Swiss" with Matthias Wunderlin (Migros), Valentin Benz (Datasport) and Sandro Wegmann (TMI Trade Marketing Intelligence) won 2nd place in the Tortour Challenge in the competition of 3-person teams. All three athletes each competed in their first Tortour. In 17 hours and 22 minutes they were able to take their place on the podium.

The "Team ESB International" with Andreas Kern (Audiorent Clair) and the two Austrians Stefan Schiel (Marketmind) and Reinhard Rössler (Rail Services International Austria) were more than satisfied with the 7th place. "I can very well imagine that we will compete with even more teams next year. For us, this is a great opportunity to connect decision-makers from the ESB network and experience extraordinary things together," says Hans-Willy Brockes, the managing director of the ESB Marketing Network. "Hosted by ESB partner Cycling Unlimited, the Tortour will take place again from August 18 - 20, 2022. Anyone from the ESB network who is interested in participating as an athlete or as a supervisor, please feel free to contact ESB."
