Migros expands its commitment to the sport of wrestling

Migros has already been involved in the sport of wrestling for 16 years - and is now becoming the "queen partner" of the Swiss Women's Wrestling Festival and the association's top sponsor. The core of the 3-year commitment is the support of the annual "Eidg. Frauen- und Meitlischwingfest". At the same time, Migros will become an association partner of the Swiss Women's Wrestling Federation (SFWR) at the highest level and, with this commitment, wants to help make the sport of women's wrestling more popular.

Since 2007, Migros has been a royal partner at all Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Games festivals and will continue its support as a royal partner at the ESAF 2025 Glarnerland+. In addition, Migros is a partner at the Unspunnen or the Kilchberger-Schwinget as well as at various mountain, partial association or cantonal swing festivals. As the official junior partner of the Swiss Wrestling Federation (ESV), it also supports the annual wrestling taster days, which are held throughout Switzerland.

Making swinging sport more popular for women

Now Migros is expanding its commitment to the sport of wrestling and will also support girls and women in the sawdust in the future. Of course, with the women, everything is (still) a few numbers smaller. "Except for the effort," says Martin Koch, Head of Sponsoring & Events at the Federation of Migros Cooperatives. "Women swimmers are also athletes who prepare accordingly for their competitions and need more professional structures. That is why Migros will be the top federation partner of the Swiss Women's Wrestling Federation EFSV." Benjamin Beyeler, President EFSV, adds: "Our common goal is to make women's wrestling more popular and to offer it the stage it deserves. The cooperation with Migros as queen partner is a giant step in the right direction. Through the charisma of Migros, we hope that many more women and girls will find their way into the sport of swinging."

The core of the partnership is the Eidgenössisches Frauen- und Meitlischwingfest (Swiss Women's and Men's Wrestling Festival), for which Migros is the exclusive "queen partner". It is the final event of the women's wrestling season and is the equivalent of the men's ESAF. In contrast to this, however, this festival is not held every three years, but annually. In order to make this festival even more attractive, there will be a change of mode from 2023: The winner of the annual final festival will now be crowned as the wrestling queen. Until now, the performance over the entire season (Kranzschwingfests) was decisive. The next Federal Women's and Men's Wrestling Festival will take place on September 2, 2023 in Grächen VS.
