The fair lives

"I see two years of stagnation, then trade shows in Switzerland will recover". This is what an exhibition designer says on the basis of his offered projects for exhibitor clients. Many of them postpone their decisions to participate in trade shows because of their own economic situation.

But here are some noteworthy announcements from Switzerland: from November 8 - 10, 2019, the fifth "Zukunft Alter", which is growing every year, will be held at the Lucerne Exhibition Center. The interest is constantly increasing, also from the media. Because it has managed to positively occupy the topic of aging. It provides contemporary answers to the topics of the over-50s and attracts corresponding celebrities such as Emil or Kurt Aeschbacher.

New trade fairs also have a chance in Switzerland. In January, the pioneering trade fair "Cultura Suisse" was held in Bern for the first time with 120 exhibitors and 2500 visitors. It is to be held at Bernexpo in 2020 for the next time and then every two years. Forecast: growth. From February 21 to 24, Swiss Moto will kick off the new motorcycle season. At this highlight of the motorized two-wheeler season, over 70,000 motorcycle fans make the pilgrimage to the stands of the 220 exhibitors at the Zurich Exhibition Center. Who knows the fair knows that the word "enthusiasm" of the participating guests is not an empty phrase, but corresponds to the fact. The Internet cannot do that. From March 13 to 17, as every year, the Zurich Exhibition Center is transformed into a spectacular oasis of gardens. With 67000 visitors, it is one of the best-running trade fairs in Switzerland and a highlight in Europe in terms of its attractiveness. In Germany, by the way, the thesis of the declining popularity of fairs is completely unknown. "I've never heard that before," Cologne's head of trade fairs Gerald Böse told me in 2018. "I have a different perception," said Marco Siebert, Director International Relations at Deutsche Messe, on January 30, 2019. The latter organizes annually one of the world's largest trade fairs with 6500 (!) exhibitors. "The big horizontal fairs (note: like HannoverMesse) live on the innovations. The rest, vertical fairs as community meetings also grow. As long as business initiation and community building are the focus, there will be no trade show decline." P.S. In the next few days we expect a breaking news from the Swiss exhibition industry!
