After the record autumn 2015 with more than 25,000 congress participants within three months, Jonas Scharf, head of the CCB, is looking forward to new international conferences in the coming year: For the first time, Biotech Outsourcing Strategies cmc 2016 will be held in Basel, a congress that aims to establish itself annually at the Rhine knee. The ESC Congress of the European Society of Contraception and Reproductive Health and the ECFS Congress of the European Cystic Fibrosis Society will also each bring more than 2,000 participants to Basel. Another highlight on the Basel congress agenda is the International Symposium on Dental Hygiene 2016.

The Congress Center Basel was also able to hold its own internationally for 2015.Allocation of an OlympiadRecurring congresses provide security in planning. International scientific events that rotate between congress destinations worldwide, on the other hand, are usually subject to an elaborate application process. "The application for rotating congresses is an extremely exciting challenge and is similar to the awarding of an Olympic Games. Here we are in direct competition with destinations such as Vienna and Paris," explains Letizia Elia, Head of Marketing & Business Development. The team at the Congress Center Basel works closely with the city of Basel and often supports the organizers in all matters over many years. "Thanks to this intensive and successful cooperation, more than 65 international and 60 national congresses of various sizes with a total of around 650,000 participants could be realized in Basel between 2010 and 2015," Jonas Scharf specifies.Event hall for congressesMesse Basel's modern infrastructure makes a significant contribution to the Congress Center's strong international positioning. Both the eleven modular rooms on the first floor, which were put into operation in summer 2013, and the connection to the exhibition building by Herzog & de Meuron are impressive. As a result, the DGHO Annual Meeting, the highlight in terms of participant numbers in Basel in the fall of 2015, was able to go ahead without any structural adjustments. In particular, the Event Hall in the Herzog & de Meuron building is increasingly being used for large congresses. Thanks to the Passarelle, participants can move between the rooms without restriction, which further enhances visitor comfort and makes Basel's congress infrastructure even more attractive.Basel's established life sciences location also plays a key role in its success. A description of Basel by Terrapinn sums it up: "The city of Basel is a major life science location, home to major pharmaceutical and biotech companies such as Actlion, Novartis and Roche, and a place of innovation in global drug development." Terrapinn was responsible for the successful CCB premiere of the European Antibody Congress in November 2015, which will enter a new round in Basel next year.
