Not refugees. People!

With Project Life Jacket by the organizations The Voice Of Thousands, Borderfree and Schwizerchrüz, Jung von Matt is calling for a return to seeing people instead of just refugees. With the support of more than 20 organizations from all over Europe, the initiative aims to put the refugee drama back on the agenda of politicians, the media and EU citizens.

Currently, 60 million people worldwide are on the run. People who are stigmatized with one word: Refugee. Often associated with crime, violence and poverty, the awareness is lost that these people led a completely normal life before they fled. This is exactly why the Swiss NGO "The Voice Of Thousands", with the support of "Borderfree" and "Schwizerchrüz", initiated Project Life Ja- cket. The project is carried and supported by organizations and associations from all over Europe.

The project is based on an emotional idea: "We visited people who had fled Syria in the camps of Greece and drew the life stories of nine people on the life jackets they wore during their crossing," says Michael Grossenbacher, co-initiator of Project Life Jacket and co-president of The Voice Of Thousands. The drawings bear witness to their lives before the wars, their lives before they put on a life jacket and with it the stigma of . This message is conveyed in the documentary short film, on the drawn vests, and on the interactive Platform impressively conveyed.

On the platform, the whole world can experience the nine life stories up close through the illustrated life jackets and interviews. "With this initiative, we not only want to make people think, but also give them opportunities to help directly and meaningfully right away," says Grossenbacher. The platform therefore offers the opportunity to support one or more participating organizations and thus also the people affected with donations in kind, time or money.
