"Digital Lifetime Award" for Bea Knecht

The "Oscars" of the Swiss digital industry were awarded for the fifth time at the "Digital Marketing Award". "Digital Marketer of the Year" is Watson. Bea Knecht was honored with the "Digital Lifetime Award".

This year, for the first time, the prize for the "Digital Newcomer of the Year" was awarded. IAB Switzerland welcomed more than 500 guests on November 13 at Kaufleuten Zurich, who were guided through the evening by moderator Guy Landolt.

Nominated for the "Digital Marketer of the Year" award were five companies or projects that shaped the digital marketing industry in Switzerland in a special way in 2014. The award winner was chosen by the IAB focus groups, departments and expert groups. The 2014 winner was the news portal Watson. The award was presented to Watson CEO Hansi Voigt by main sponsor search.ch. Voigt expressed his delight at the great recognition for the news portal, which was launched at the beginning of the year, and thanked his team for their great support in setting it up.

This year, a new prize was awarded in the category "Digital Newcomer of the Year". The award went to the participant with the best final grade in the "Digital Marketing Diploma Course - Basic Course" at the IAB Academy in the current year. The honoree was Stefanie Probst, who, in addition to her job at 2media and the basic course at the IAB Academy in 2014, also completed a master's degree in communication sciences and media research at the University of Fribourg. The award was presented by co-sponsors United Internet Media and CSS Insurance. The "Digital Newcomer of the Year" emphasizes the special significance of the topic of training at IAB Switzerland.

At the end of the award show, Bea Knecht was honored with the "Digital Lifetime Award". The founder and chairman of the board of the Internet TV provider Zattoo received this award for her special services in the digital marketing industry from the presenting sponsor Newsnet. Fascinated by Internet TV since 1990, Bea Knecht launched Zattoo in 2006. Knecht expressed her conviction that Zattoo will remain on the road to success thanks to its innovative product and strong team.

Top-class speakers at the "Digital Marketing Summit

In the afternoon, the "Digital Marketing Summit" took place for the second time, which asked for a series of exciting technical presentations, case presentations and a keynote address followed by a panel discussion.

Florian Gmeinwieser, Managing Director of Plan.Net.mobile in Munich, kicked off the event with a presentation entitled "Omnichannel Communication - quo vadis? Afterwards, Marc Marienfeld, Country Manager Germany of the branded entertainment platform Be On, explained how to promote new products with a 2-minute spot, before Pablo Metz, Managing Director of MBR Targeting in Berlin, posed the question: "All physicists and mathematicians? I thought you guys were making commercials! Using Real Science in Real Time!"

The highlight of this year's "Digital Marketing Summit" was the keynote address by Nicolas Clasen, independent management consultant and author in Munich. In his most recently published book "Der digitale Tsunami" (The Digital Tsunami), he describes the dangers and opportunities of the current media shift for publishers and TV broadcasters. His keynote is entitled "Online Marketing: The Failed Model.

The VIP event concluded with an exciting panel discussion on the topic of "Quality - Measurability - Reach. What will make online advertising successful in the future". David Burst, Media Project Manager at Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund, Roman Hirsbrunner, CEO at Jung von Matt/Limmat, Nicolas Clasen and Peter Neumann, Chief Digital Officer at AZ Medien, provided interesting insights into the industry.

The closing words of the day belonged to Stefan Obwegeser, President of the IAB Switzerland Association: "The event was once again a complete success! Exciting presentations at the "Digital Marketing Summit" in the afternoon and a full ballroom at the award ceremony in the evening, hosted by Guy Landolt in an incomparably funny way. A great end to a successful year for IAB Switzerland."
