Ringier Digital: Cooperation with Seven Ventures

Ringier Digital and Seven Ventures, the venture arm of Pro Sieben Sat 1, are entering into a strategic partnership for the next three years. The aim is to jointly promote young Swiss companies.

As Ringier Digital CDO Thomas Kaiser already pointed out in mid-August told Werbewoche in an interviewIn addition, the company is entering into a cooperation with Seven Ventures. The aim is to promote and publicize innovative startups and young future-oriented companies in Switzerland, which generally cannot yet afford classic advertising, as the two companies write in a statement. The investments are focused on strategically important areas, but especially on growth companies in the online and mobile segment. The commitment takes the form of media-for-revenue or media-for-equity. This means that SevenVentures and Ringier Digital receive a share of revenues or business in return for their comprehensive media services (TV, online, print, radio). Ringier Digital and SevenVentures together have the largest Swiss media reach.

Startups can usually only dream of generous advertising budgets. However, they are the decisive prerequisite for rapid brand development and sales. This makes it all the more difficult for young companies to conduct target-group-specific marketing and achieve relevant advertising pressure. This is exactly where the partnership between Ringier Digital and Seven Ventures comes in: The two companies invest in promising startups and, in addition to financial resources, primarily contribute their bundled media performance as acquisition currency. The principle of advertising time and advertising space in exchange for revenue or company shares creates a win-win situation for all parties involved.

Seven Ventures already has several years of experience in media investment. The portfolio now comprises more than 70 cooperations and investments, including companies such as Zalando, Preis24.de and Babymarkt.de.

Combined with Ringier media services from online, print and radio, Ringier Digital adds three complementary channels to Seven Ventures' TV services. Thomas Kaiser, CEO Ringier Digital AG and CDO Ringier AG, underlines the importance of such investments: "We also want to expand our online business in the future. In addition to the media reach of both partners, the startups can expect an environment with many experienced digital entrepreneurs."

Hari-Sven Krishnan, Managing Director Seven Ventures Switzerland: "Switzerland is a country with a very innovative start-up scene. We are very pleased to have Ringier as our first partner with whom we can promote young companies in this country and jointly support their development. In the long term, this also includes market entry for these companies in Austria and Germany. I am firmly convinced that we can achieve a great deal with the combined power of our media reach."
