There are no longer any possibilities for the Tamedia broadcaster to obtain protection against the outdated law. Last Monday, therefore, negotiations began between TV 3 and Bakom on how the objectionable programs interrupted by advertising can be made legally compliant in future. TV 3 boss Jürg Wildberger: "There will be programming changes." This will be about more than just cosmetics. However, he reassures the advertising industry: the current GRP services will be maintained even with the upcoming changes. Wildberger also believes it is unlikely that TV 3 will see a reduction in revenue as a result of the changes.
Ueli Custer, Managing Director of Interessengemeinschaft elektronische Medien (IGEM), still has no sympathy for the requested changes: "The ruling raises new questions. For example these: What is a broadcast? Millionaire' is recorded in longer sequences and deliberately divided into individual pieces. This proves how nonsensical such rules are." According to Custer, an early revision of the advertising rules is therefore becoming increasingly urgent (dse).
