WEMF launches new media database for campaign planning

The WEMF media database (MedienDB) has been online since Monday. It enables end-to-end ad planning from analysis and costing to booking. Leading Swiss Agencies (LSA) and the Swiss Advertisers Association (SWA) are supporting the market launch of the database solution.

As of this morning, all modules of the WEMF media database (MedienDB) are available via the WEMF data portal Next>Level. This provides the media and advertising market with a comprehensive database solution that enables end-to-end ad planning, from analysis and costing to booking. The MedienDB contains booking units of advertising-relevant press titles. It includes all important title and price information as well as booking and production data of the listed newspapers and magazines. The media companies enter their data themselves. 

 

Tested by LSA agencies 

Even before the official go-live, selected agencies of the Leading Swiss Agencies (LSA) association tested the solution for professionals. LSA Managing Director Catherine Purgly draws a positive balance: "MedienDB provides all relevant planning data in one tool. The offers of the listed press media can thus be found and compared quickly, and ad planning becomes more efficient. With around 570 booking units, the database already represents a considerable part of the Swiss press market. However, not all publications in the trade and specialist press have yet recognized the potential of the MedienDB. Here, therefore, there are still some titles that can neither be found nor planned via the WEMF data portal."

 

Positive feedback also from the SWA 

Roland Ehrler, Director SWA/ASA, is also positive about the new database: "With the launch of MedienDB, WEMF is living up to its mission of ensuring greater transparency in the media and advertising market. MedienDB provides a comprehensive overview of the range of Swiss press media at any time with just a few clicks and thus creates clear added value for advertisers." And he already expresses initial wishes for possible further development: "In the sense of an all-media view, we would welcome it if the MedienDB were to map other media categories in addition to the press media in the future." 

 

Three versions for different needs 

Tailored to different user needs, the MedienDB is available in three versions: as "MedienDB PRO" for professional media planners who need the complete data set and all functions from planning to booking, as "MedienDB STANDARD" for interested parties and "occasional planners" who want to use the complete data set and standard functions, and as "MedienDB FREE" for anyone who wants to get an overview of the Swiss press market. The latter contains a reduced data set and is accessible free of charge via the WEMF website.
