Nau.ch has been online for five years

With the website, the app, and via screens in public transportation, gas stations, post offices, and fitness centers throughout Switzerland, the media brand has earned around 500,000 hits a day.

The fact that the Nau editorial team - the portal has 60 employees - has established a firm place for itself in the Swiss media market after five years, with around 3.5 million unique users per month, is proven by the current Media Quality Rating 2022: Nau.ch ranks second in the category of tabloid and commuter newspapers, ahead of publications from the established houses Ringier and Tamedia.

Independence - Agility

The Nau.ch crew looks back with pride on what it has achieved in the past five years. Angelika Meier, Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Head of News & People: "After only five years, it's hard to imagine the Swiss media world without us. We owe this to an experienced, but also young and dynamic team that never stands still."

Yves Kilchenmann, CEO and Managing Director of Nau Media AG, highlights another special feature of his company: "Nau is constantly oriented towards the readership and is independent of all major media houses. This constellation allows us agility and speed to offer an alternative in the Swiss media market."

Simon Klopfenstein, COO of Nau.ch, adds: "At Nau.ch, the daily questioning and creative testing of new ideas and digital possibilities is valued by everyone on the staff. This dynamic results in solidarity and excellent cohesion in our team."

And Christof Vuille, deputy editor-in-chief and head of politics at Nau.ch, is already looking forward to the next few years: "I'm proud that our political team is appreciated and respected in the Federal Parliament, and that we can contribute to Swiss media diversity with our work."

Innovative strength - promotion of young talent

With the recent launch of 128 local pages, which are currently marketed exclusively for the portal by around 30 local agencies, Nau is breaking new ground. Financing from its own advertising revenues is thus being placed on an even broader footing. In addition, with its own Journalism Academy headed by media professional Urs Frieden and Nau Editor-in-Chief Micha Zbinden, the portal is ensuring the targeted promotion of young talent in the Swiss media industry. "Nau has developed into an attractive training company for writing talent. In our Academy, we train young people on the job and introduce them to the demanding daily routine of editorial work. Around 30 percent of Academy graduates are offered a permanent position with us. That is certainly unique in the Swiss media market," says Micha Zbinden.
