SRG aims to reduce energy consumption by 13 to 15 percent

SRG wants to ensure its public service mission of SRG even in an extraordinary situation. For this reason, there are energy-saving measures that will be implemented immediately throughout the company.

Since last year, an internal SRG task force has been working on the basis of the national "Role Model Energy and Climate" project to successively improve the company's energy efficiency and generally reduce consumption. Due to the new developments, SRG has classified the risk of an electricity or gas shortage as increased and has tasked an energy crisis team with preparing SRG for scenarios of a severe electricity shortage.

SRG has now decided on measures that will apply with immediate effect to all five Enterprise Units, the General Management and the subsidiary Swiss Txt.

Broad-based immediate measures

For example, the illuminated logos on the buildings and also the ambient lighting will be switched off unless they are necessary for safety reasons. In the buildings, the heating output is reduced by 1.5 to 2 degrees, ventilation is switched off depending on use, the availability of hot water is restricted, decorative televisions are switched off, and other measures are implemented. In addition, employees are motivated to save energy personally. SRG estimates that these immediate measures will reduce the company's energy consumption by 13 to 15 percent.
