NZZ slightly increases sales

NZZ's half-year figures are slightly more positive than in 2021. Thanks to the resumption of events, sales are CHF 10.4 million higher than in the previous year. However, rising costs are putting pressure on the result.

NZZThe NZZ company generated sales of 116.7 million francs in the first half of 2022, it wrote in a statement Wednesday. The operating result was 7.6 million francs, the same level as last year.

Revenues from the user market increased by 3.9 percent in the first half of 2022. In the reader market, the company had succeeded in maintaining or expanding the number of subscribers, which had grown strongly during the pandemic. Thus, the growth course in Germany could be continued.

Like the user market, the advertising market also showed a slight year-on-year increase. Revenues in the digital advertising market exceeded the previous year by 6.8 percent. However, revenues in the Print advertising market were 1.3 percent below the previous year.

World situation likely to increase costs

Net profit amounted to 4.7 million Swiss francs at the end of June 2022. This corresponds to a decrease of 5 million Swiss francs compared to the previous year.

The NZZ expects the situation to remain challenging, especially with regard to the advertising market. High energy and raw material prices are likely to continue to weigh on costs in the second half of the year. (SDA)
