Michèle Schönbächler has worked in various capacities for Swiss radio and television since 2001. She has been commentating on women's ski races since the 2018/19 season. Now the 40-year-old is stepping down from her role as TV commentator in alpine skiing, SRF writes in a statement. In the SRF live broadcasts of the Olympic sports of curling, equestrian sports and orienteering, she will continue to work as a commentator. The Obwalden native will also be commentating on swimming - including at the upcoming European Championships and the Summer Olympics in Tokyo. She will also continue to be heard as a sports editor and reporter on Radio SRF. SRF Sport will decide on Schönbächler's successor as ski commentator at a later date, the statement continues.

"The job as a ski commentator was an exciting and educational challenge. I was happy to invest a lot to meet the specific requirements as a commentator in skiing. However, I was not able to develop as I had expected, especially from myself. That's why I'll be focusing on my other tasks at SRF Sport in the future," says Michèle Schönbächler, explaining her decision.
