Good news for the sports-interested public throughout Switzerland: SRF, RTS, RSI and RTR will continue to report comprehensively and live on current events in skiing and winter sports on their stations and platforms (TV, radio, online/mobile) in the coming years. SRG extended several key rights packages with its longstanding contractual partners.

FIS World Cup events in Switzerland and worldwide

SRG extended its agreement with the Swiss Ski Federation (Swiss-Ski) on FIS events in Switzerland until the end of the 2027/28 season, securing exclusive broadcasting rights for Swiss World Cup events in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, snowboarding and ski freestyle or ski cross. SRF, RTS, RSI and RTR will continue to provide comprehensive, live coverage of the country's FIS events.

SRG has acquired the broadcasting rights to FIS events outside Switzerland from the marketing company Infront Sports & Media. The contract enables SRF, RTS, RSI and RTR to provide comprehensive live coverage of the FIS international World Cup events until the end of the 2025/26 season. SRG has secured the broadcasting rights to the events in Austria, which are not marketed by Infront, via the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

Olympics, Ski and Ice Hockey World Championships

The upcoming major international events in skiing and winter sports are also broadcast live on SRF, RTS, RSI and RTR. SRG has acquired a sublicense for the 2022 Winter Olympics from rights holder Discovery. The contract enables SRG broadcasters to provide exclusive and comprehensive live and highlight coverage of the major event in Beijing throughout Switzerland on free-to-air television and radio as well as on freely accessible online platforms.

SRG extended its exclusive Swiss broadcasting rights with Infront Sports & Media for the Alpine and Nordic World Ski Championships, as well as the World Championships in Ski Freestyle, Snowboard and Freeski. The agreement will enable SRF, RTS, RSI and RTR to provide comprehensive live and highlight coverage of the title events until at least 2025. Also with Infront, SRG extended the rights package for the Ice Hockey World Championships. This means that SRG broadcasters can continue to show all Swiss World Cup matches as well as the games of the decisive tournament phase live and exclusively on free-to-air television and on their online platforms until at least 2028.

Top events in biathlon, curling, bobsleigh and skeleton

In addition, SRG extended the broadcasting rights for the top events in the biathlon with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The agreement will enable SRF, RTS, RSI and RTR to provide comprehensive live coverage of all World Cup races and World Championships for biathletes at least until the end of the 2023/24 season. SRG also renewed its agreement with Infront Sports & Media for Switzerland-wide live and highlight coverage in curling (European and World Championships) until the end of the 2025/26 season. SRG's current agreement with Infront on the World Cups and World Championships in bobsleigh and skeleton is still valid until the end of the 2021/22 season.

SRG images for the whole world

SRG is the host television producer of the FIS events in Switzerland. As a so-called host broadcaster, SRG produces the world signal of the Swiss World Cup events in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, snowboarding and ski freestyle or ski cross in cooperation with Swiss-Ski and the local organizers.

The world signal is the basis for worldwide live broadcasts of the Swiss World Cup events. In addition to SRF, RTS and RSI, all TV stations and streaming platforms around the globe that broadcast the competitions also use the images of the Swiss ski and winter sports regions produced by SRG - and carry these images around the world.
