Monocle launches new magazine "Konfekt" and expands editorial office in Zurich

Monocle expands its print portfolio and launches "Konfekt," a magazine for style-conscious ladies, in November. The magazine is published in Zurich and appears four times a year. With a dedicated editorial team, this step will expand Monocle's Zurich editorial team. The new magazine is bilingual with texts in German and English.

As a supplement to the existing range of products and services at the newsstand, the Confectionery both to Monocle's existing female readership and to a previously underserved market looking for an elegant perspective on women's apparel, travel, entertainment, interior design and art.

"The launch of Confectionery ties in with Monocle's expansion in the DACH region," says Tyler Brûlé, editor-in-chief and CEO of Monocle. "In addition to the geographic focus, Konfekt allows us to expand our editorial offering to female readers while creating new opportunities for advertising partnerships. The response from luxury, fashion, travel and financial brands has been very strong."

 

Sophie Grove takes over management

Conducted Confectionery by Sophie Grove, formerly Paris correspondent and head of the Istanbul office. The Zurich team will be joined by architecture and design editor Nolan Giles from London and Marcela Palek, who has taken on the new position of style director at Monocle and Confectionery takes over (Werbewoche.ch reported). With this change, the main topics of fashion, architecture, design and urbanism will be covered from the editorial offices in Zurich Seefeld.

In addition, commercial activities will be moved from London to Zurich, with Monocle publisher Anders Braso expanding his advertising and marketing team. "Given the size of the Swiss, German, Italian and French markets, it only makes sense to use Zurich as the center for our sales and marketing activities," says Braso. "Since printing and logistics are managed from Germany, Zurich is an obvious location for our global activities."

Confectionery will appear as a large format and be accompanied by a monthly podcast and a weekly newsletter. All editorial elements will build on Monocle's existing offering. The magazine will be available in November at a price of 15 Swiss francs at selected press locations and by subscription.
