Südostschweiz Medien with higher sales and profits

Last year, Südostschweiz Medien in Chur increased its sales and made more profit. The media company is concerned about its traditional newspaper business.

The headwind for traditional media such as newspapers and magazines is strong. This was announced on Friday by the media house Südostschweiz Medien, which among other things publishes Werbewoche. The restrained development in print has therefore been countered with measures: A savings and efficiency program was optimized, above all to "better eliminate hidden costs."

Despite the problems in print, Südostschweiz Medien can report stable figures for 2012. Operating income rose by half a million francs to 136.2 million francs and cash flow by 1.5 to 5.3 million francs. In 2012, after the loss in the previous year, an annual profit is again reported, amounting to CHF 1.1 million.

New media house in focus

According to the Chur-based media company, the past year was dominated by planning for the new media center. The construction project has been approved by the city authorities. It is to be started in the fall. According to Südostschweiz Medien, after a construction period of 12 to 15 months, the media house will offer an attractive working environment to all employees working at different locations in Chur and the surrounding area. The building will be structured according to the latest findings in media convergence and will enable Südostschweiz Medien to optimally plan for the digital future. (uma/SDA)
