Frog off press: With Spick to the reading world champion title

With a participatory booklet for fourth grade students, the clever student magazine from Switzerland wants to make a contribution to the promotion of reading. The joy of sports and competition is to be integrated into the learning process at the Spick Reading World Cup.

In the Spick anniversary year, Künzler Bachmann Verlag from St. Gallen is publishing 10'000 booklets for the Spick Reading World Cup, which focuses on learning success through short, exciting stories. The initiative is also recommended by the Stiftung Lesen (Reading Foundation), according to a press release. There are six rounds of reading fun in the reading world championship. In each of these rounds, a text has to be read, the corresponding comprehension questions have to be answered and the reading speed has to be tested in another test. Since reading skills can vary greatly in different classes, all timings can be adjusted to the reading strength of the students.

Teachers can obtain a class set of the Spick World Reading Championship free of charge on request from the publisher. Texts and tests can be used throughout the school year according to learning progress and learning objectives, and a certificate for each student rounds off the championship.
