Michael Perricone becomes new head of politics at the Blick Group

The Blick Group is getting a new head of politics: Michael Perricone will take over as head of the politics department, succeeding Jürg Lehmann.

Lehmann has resigned as of the end of January and is leaving the company of his own accord, Ringier announced on Wednesday evening. He wishes to pursue a new challenge.

43-year-old Michael Perricone began his journalistic career in 1991 as co-head of the Zurich youth newspaper Toaster and joined the founding team of the Tages-Anzeiger's youth supplement Ernst in 1995. As a VJ and producer, he worked for TeleZüri/Tele24 for three years starting in 1997, and for one year as head of editions for the news sections of both stations. From 2002, he worked for two years at Kassensturz and was then a reporter and producer at 10vor10 for six years. In addition, he also worked as a special foreign correspondent for Swiss television. Since December 1, 2009, Perricone has been deputy editor-in-chief of Blick am Abend. He will take up his new position at the latest at the beginning of March 2011.

Jürg Lehmann held several senior positions at Ringier, including Editor-in-Chief of Blick for four years from 1999. On June 1, 2009, he took over the management of the Hans Ringier Foundation's School of Journalism and was responsible for the professional training of young journalists at Ringier Switzerland. Lehmann also initiated the professional training of journalists in the newsroom and worked as an author before taking over as head of the political section on October 1, 2010.
