Young people in German-speaking Switzerland prefer to store at H&M

YOUTH MARKETING STUcard.ch, the largest youth and student community in Switzerland, asked more than 4,000 young people and students in German-speaking Switzerland between the ages of 12 and 30 about their favorite shopping brands. Shopping is one of the favorite pastimes of Swiss young people: whether it's clothes, sporting goods or electronics - no other target group is more eager to always have the latest thing.In cooperation with the agency jim & jim, which specializes in youth and student marketing, has STUcard.ch asked over 4,000 community members which stores they prefer to store in. The survey covered the categories fashion, electronics, sports and travel. These are the top 5 in the individual categories*:When it comes to fashion, the big winner is H&M: If young people want to buy new clothes, the Swedish fashion giant is the first port of call (47,39%). Its direct competitor Zara (18,04%) is a long way behind, closely followed by Manor (14,27%), C&A (10,33%) and Vero Moda (9,97%).Ochsner Sport has a clear lead when it comes to sports equipment: the Swiss company accounts for a full 42,31% of the votes among the top 5. Ochsner Sport thus relegates SportXX (17,71%) and the Intersport Group (17,6%) as well as the sports market Athleticum (15,42%) to the lower ranks. As the most mentioned individual brand, Nike follows in 5th place with 6,96%.Stationary trade still high on the agendaThe majority of young people in German-speaking Switzerland continue to buy electronic gadgets, music, DVDs, games and entertainment from bricks-and-mortar stores, especially Interdiscount (31,99%) and Media Markt (30,88%). This is followed by melectronics with 17,32%. Digitec is the only online retailer to make it into fourth place with 11,17%. Fust (8,64%) has to be content with fifth place.The biggest surprise comes from the question of the most popular travel provider: An astonishing 31.2% was recorded by the long-established travel agency Kuoni. TUI Reisen is also popular, with 26.72%. Only in third place comes the online travel provider ebookers.ch (20,04%). 12,29% book directly with easyJet and the remaining 9,75% use the Globetrotter service.*Only the five most frequently mentioned answers and their relation to each other were taken into account when calculating the percentages.
