The first jury day has come to an end in Amsterdam's "The College" hotel. In the "Media - Print" category, Leo Burnett Switzerland wins gold with its five-part "Crosswords" campaign (Ear, Clown, Sparrow, Heroin, Foul) for the Woz weekly newspaper. Jury vote: 6.07 points (out of a possible ten). The agency probably hit the nerve of the times with the Trump subject even better than planned at the time of submission. With David Griner (Adweek) and Eric Alt (Co.Create), by the way, there are again two Americans on the approximately 25-member jury. The Woz campaign has already recently won an award as a moving image version at the Swiss film prize Edi.16 and once again underlines the successful collaboration of the Zurich agency with the left-wing weekly newspaper.

Ruf Lanz was also able to secure awards on the first day. The fashionable Staging of Sibler household goods wins silver in the category "Luxury & Premium Brands" with a point average of 5.33. Although the campaign was the highest-rated entry in this category, a point average of at least 6 is usually required for gold - in exceptional cases, a high score of 5 is also sufficient.

For Ruf Lanz, more awards will be added - but silver and bronze will only be definitively determined and announced on Thursday (unless silver is awarded for the highest score in the category). It is therefore not yet possible to say for sure which award "The Great Escape" by Jung von Matt will receive (although it should be clear).

The judging of further Ruf-Lanz campaigns (VBZ, Hiltl, Delizio) and the final entries from Maxomedia and Freundliche Grüsse is scheduled for Tuesday.

In 2016, 3806 entries were submitted by 631 entrants from 66 countries. Most submissions came from the USA (488), followed by Germany (454) and France (452). (hae)
