Update: Culturezüri.ch now also available in Basel

Since 2016, Kulturzüri.ch has been the place to go for leisure and outbound planning in the greater Zurich area. The newly revised and expanded website is now to be extended to other regions. Under Agendabasel.ch, the platform realized by Update already serves the greater Basel area.

Update Kulturzüri.chBehind the transformation of the previously online-only agenda Culturezüri.ch to a comprehensive cultural platform is the desire to "inspire a new and more diverse audience for culture in the future, to orient them in the cultural offerings and to communicate culture and its offerings," as the association "Forum Kultur" writes in the media release on the relaunch. The website, which was launched five years ago, was fundamentally redesigned and expanded for this purpose.

In addition to a contemporary look and feel and additional filters for the event search, Kulturzüri.ch now also offers personalization options so that users can configure the platform according to their interests and preferences. In addition, a three-person editorial team with a pool of freelance cultural writers regularly produces curated articles on cultural programs and life that are intended to inform and inspire. The audience can also participate in this exchange with visual or textual contributions.

Kulturzüri.ch goes Agendabasel.ch

The success of Kulturzüri.ch has also aroused interest in other major Swiss cities. When the portal was rebuilt, possibilities were therefore created to make it available to other cities and regions in return for a license fee. Basel-Stadt/Land has already jumped on board. Under the domain Agendabasel.ch since Wednesday, people who like to go out can find cultural tips and editorial contributions for the greater Basel area. Further regional platforms are planned, according to the press release.

Kulturzüri.ch is backed by the non-profit association Forum Kultur, which was founded in 2014 by communications representatives from various Zurich cultural institutions. In the meantime, more than 140 cultural institutions are involved. The online agenda was designed and realized by Update AG in 2015. The Zurich agency was supported in the redesign by Kollektiv Ideen.

The freeware CMF "Processwire" continues to be used as the technical underpinning for the website. It offers both an intuitive backend, through which the organizers can enter and manage their data with individual accesses, and a fast PHP framework, which supports and accelerates the development of specific functions and processes. With this, functions were realized that enable the automated import of events directly from the various systems of museums, theaters, concert and other cultural organizers.
