Bluewin and Bluemail customers can use their accounts again

Swisscom has not yet been able to fend off the spam attack on Bluewin and Bluemail that has been going on for days. The flood of advertising emails is now being intercepted so that the email accounts are working again without restrictions, a spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

Thanks to additional filtering measures, the spam mails would end up directly in customers' spam folders so that they would no longer notice them, Swisscom spokeswoman Annina Merke told the SDA news agency.

However, the attack is continuing. There is still an increased volume of spam. The spam emails come from computers infected with malware and Trojans worldwide and cannot be restricted to one country, which makes the fight even more difficult.

Swisscom is unable to quantify how many customers have actually been affected by the flood of advertising emails. It is also not yet known whether users have been harmed by the spam attack.

The cyberattack began on Sunday evening (Werbewoche.ch reported). Anyone with an e-mail account with Bluewin or Bluemail has been inundated with a flood of advertising e-mails. Due to the flood of emails, the email service, including webmail access, was impaired for some customers. (SDA)
