Bernexpo tests new "SafeZone" sensors in Bern City Council
Bernexpo, the Bernese trade fair organizer, has developed a device with partners to make live events possible again in Corona times. Last Thursday evening, the Bern City Council members were able to test it.
As the office of the Bern City Council announced on Thursday, the device is called "SafeZone". It flashes if the wearers of the device disregard specifications previously entered into the system, such as minimum distances and the duration of a contact. The sensors measure the distance to each other once per second.
In a description of the device, Bernexpo writes that the Swiss Covid app covers the public space. The use of "SafeZone" makes sense where there is controlled entry and exit. Bernexpo thus "brings back the joy of the live event." According to the manufacturer, data protection is guaranteed. The system records anonymous encounters, distances and durations.
On February 1, the Bernexpo Group had announced that it wanted to expand its core business with new, digital business areas. In the future, it also wants to offer visitors to events "beneficial, digital services via state-of-the-art and mobile communication channels. (SDA)
