This is how emotional Coop's Christmas campaign is

The new Christmas commercial by TBWA\Zürich for Coop picks up on an idea that the retailer had already tested in a social media post. The accompanying song is also something special: the Coop advertising manager sang it herself.

Great things come in small packages: a kind word, a compliment, a friendly gesture - often all it takes to make the world a little better. Inspired by the positive response to a Coop social media post from last year, in which customers were surprised with compliments on slips of paper, Coop developed the concept for this year's Christmas campaign in-house. The 360° campaign was developed and implemented in co-creation with TBWA\Zürich, OnfilmXStories and other partners.

Directed by Tobias Fueter, a Christmas commercial was created in which an empathetic Coop employee notices small arguments, moments of stress and feelings of loneliness in the hectic pre-Christmas period. She then begins to hide notes with motivating, loving messages to bring a little joy to those around her. When she observes the positive reactions, she literally goes into a crying frenzy. The story will be broadcast in a long version and in cutdowns on TV and online from mid-November. Welcome déjà vu for regular customers: The cast of the Coop employee and her partner is the cute film couple from the popular 2019 Christmas ad "Lulu and Louis".

Specially composed song

With the song for the film "Note by Note", Coop is continuing the tradition of releasing a new song composed especially for the TV commercial every year. The basic idea for the song came from Vanessa Finzer (Head of Advertising), who then developed it further in close collaboration with the producer Georg Schlunegger from Hitmill and finally also sang it. The campaign can now be seen on TV and in cinemas, on (D)OOH, print, social media and display ads as well as at the POS and will be supplemented by various special measures until Christmas.
