Management buyout: Nueva leaves Valencia Group

After seven years, the Zurich-based digital agency Nueva is leaving the Valencia Group and repositioning itself as an independent digital specialist.

At the end of 2017, Valencia expanded its location in Zurich and launched a new agency, Nueva, which is now becoming independent and leaving Valencia Kommunikation after more than seven years of collaboration. Remo Brunner, who was already on board as Managing Director at the start, is taking over the entire share package of Valencia as Managing Director and thus the majority of Nueva shares. The parting of the ways is said to have been extremely amicable and the two companies will continue to work together in one form or another in the future. Legally speaking, the two agencies have been separated since January 1, 2024.

Michael Gerber, CEO of the Valencia Group, speaks of a "crying and a laughing eye" at the separation. Nueva had helped Valencia in particular to become fit in the digital sector. With the merger of Valencia with the Basel-based digital agency Cab Services AG at the end of 2023, this strategic process will be completed and Valencia Kommunikation will be able to offer complete, integrated communication for clients.

"Ideal time for a management buyout"

Remo Brunner, Managing Director of Nueva, says: "With the successful integration of digital services into Valencia's offering, my main task has come to an end. It was therefore the ideal time for a management buyout for both sides." Going it alone is the consequence of continuous further development and specialization. Customers, and therefore also agencies, are increasingly moving away from traditional campaigns and towards integrated digital solutions that meet their central needs and perform optimally. Integration into customers' digital infrastructures is becoming increasingly important in order to make optimum use of the potential of data. Nueva is now responding to these developments with this step and will focus less on the traditional digital agency business in future and more on the development of new digital solutions.
