The 49-year-old Austrian national joined ABB in July 2014. He was previously Head of Corporate Communications at specialty chemicals company Lanxess and semiconductor manufacturer Infineon, both based in Germany. Sieder began his career at the car manufacturer Ford Motor Company as a PR manager.

"We greatly appreciate Sieder's work at ABB and have taken note of his decision to leave the company with great regret. Under his leadership, ABB has significantly strengthened its global brand through strategic communications activities that have been characterized by innovation and professionalism. This includes a number of highlights such as the 125th anniversary of ABB in Switzerland, the launch of the YuMi robot and, above all, our commitment as the namesake partner of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship racing series," said Peter Voser, Chairman and CEO of ABB.

"The decision to leave ABB was not an easy one for me - especially at a time when the company is successfully transforming its portfolio and culture," says Christoph Sieder about his decision. "I am very proud of the work the communications team has done over the last few years. At the same time, I am looking forward to a new, exciting challenge at Syngenta."
