Luzia Tschirky will complete the trimedial journalism stage at SRF in spring 2019 and then move to Moscow for SRF. As part of her training, Luzia Tschirky will already stand in for Christof Franzen for a few months in summer 2018 following the World Cup.

The 27-year-old has been interested in the profession of journalist since her school days. The native of eastern Switzerland discovered her fascination for Russia and the entire post-Soviet region by chance as a delegate of the European Youth Press in Moscow: "After my first trip to the Russian capital, it was clear to me that I wanted to get to know the country and the language." Numerous private and professional trips to Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Moldova followed.

In the Moscow office of The mirror and the Russian-language editorial office of Radio Free Europe in the Czech capital of Prague, Luzia Tschirky learned on the spot what it means to report from this region of the world: "I have the greatest respect for journalists who work for independent reporting in the countries of the former Soviet Union."

Luzia Tschirky joined SRF in 2012 via the Swiss editorial team at 3sat. This was followed by internships and freelance work at "Rundschau" and "Arena," among others, before she joined "10vor10" as a freelance reporter. During this time, Luzia Tschirky was able to distinguish herself with reports and her own research. Since March 2017, Luzia Tschirky has been completing SRF's trimedial journalism stage.

In spring 2019, Luzia Tschirky will now replace Christof Franzen in Moscow and take over the TV correspondent position for the Russia region and the former USSR. Christof Franzen will return to Switzerland after more than ten years in Moscow - in which function has not yet been determined.
