Encephalitis: Markus Gilli out for a long time

The former long-standing editor-in-chief of TeleZüri, Markus Gilli, is suffering from acute brain tissue inflammation (encephalitis) and is undergoing medical treatment in hospital. He will be replaced by Oliver Steffen and Hugo Bigi as presenters of the "TalkTäglich" and "SonnTalk" programs.

Markus Gilli's state of health is stable, and according to the doctors treating him, he is responding well to the medical measures that have been taken, according to a media release on Tuesday. The healing process will take several weeks to months and requires complete rest. A return to work will probably not be possible until the end of the year.

"We sincerely wish Markus Gilli a speedy recovery. We support him to the best of our ability and look forward to his return," says Roger Elsener, Managing Director CH Media Entertainment.

The shows "TalkTäglich" and "SonnTalk" will be mostly taken over by Oliver Steffen in the next few weeks and Hugo Bigi will also talk more often.
