In the public sphere or on the Internet, dialog is becoming more aggressive and democratic discourse more polarized. Against this backdrop, SRG is working with public service providers in Germany, Belgium and Canada to find approaches that enable fair and constructive online dialog with the public.

The public service providers CBC/Radio-Canada, RTBF (Belgium), SRG (Switzerland) and ZDF (Germany) are working together to find answers to the question of how they, as audiovisual media companies, can promote dialog with citizens and thus support democratic discourse. The collaboration on the research and development project "Public Spaces Incubator" aims to gain joint insights and explore new approaches to solutions. These should help to ensure that online dialog with the public is fair, constructive and free of hate speech.

The research and development project of CBC/Radio-Canada, RTBF, SRG and ZDF is in line with the mission of the four public service broadcasters to inform the population, classify topics and reflect different views and opinions.

The four service-public companies are conducting the research project in collaboration with the non-profit organization New_ Public.
