Just two years after joining, Managing Director Eric Peters leaves NZZ Germany again. Reason: The construction was completed faster than planned.

Since then the NZZ grew strongly in the German market and already achieved profitability at the end of last year. Jan-Eric Peters has thus succeeded faster than planned in building up NZZ Germany implement and lay a stable foundation for further growth. Jan-Eric Peters stepped up as managing director with the task of expanding the NZZ in Germany. He has expanded the Berlin office into a powerful subsidiary for the German market, according to NZZ Corporate Communications. The team has been increased from 10 to 25 employees for this purpose - not only in the editorial department, but now also in product development, data analysis and marketing. The strategic initiatives and innovations are having an impact: The awareness and reach of the NZZ in Germany was increased in a short period of time and the number of subscribers was further increased.

The extraordinary success is reflected in the doubling of sales in 2021 and in the fact that profitability has already been achieved despite the investments made, he said. "In the first half of this year, we also grew more strongly than planned in the German market. I am sure that with this excellent team, we will succeed in continuing and consolidating this positive development in the next phase of the growth initiative. We will prepare this phase well in the coming months," says Jan-Eric Peters.

"Jan-Eric has profitably led the important transformation from a pure correspondents' bureau to a well-functioning publishing organization, thus creating the basis for the further successful development of NZZ in Germany," says Felix Graf, CEO of the NZZ. "I regret Jan-Eric's decision, but can well understand it. On behalf of the management, I thank him sincerely for his great commitment and wish him all the best and much success in his next steps."

Jan-Eric Peters will manage the German business of the NZZ until the end of 2022. Until then, he will be initiating everything for the time after his departure. To NZZ-In Germany, the company's portfolio includes digital subscriptions, the international edition of the printed "Neue Zürcher Zeitung," an e-paper, and several newsletters.
