After a break in measurement, the independent industry research institute Mediapulse published user figures for Swiss online portals for April 2022 for the first time since December 2021. These are "very pleasing" for watson.ch, as Maurice Thiriet, Editor-in-Chief and Directeur des Rédactions of watson, notes.

In German-speaking Switzerland, watson.ch reaches around 290,000 IDs/devices per day, which is a new record. In French-speaking Switzerland, all values at watson.ch/fr have increased significantly. Visits from Switzerland rose from 608,000 in December 2021 to 880,000 in April 2022, an increase of 45 percent. On average, 21,000 devices accessed watson.ch/fr in April, an increase of 56 percent. And average visits per day rose by 50 percent to 30,000 compared with the December figures.

Fabien Feissli, Editor-in-Chief of watson.ch/fr since March 2022, is very satisfied with the figures. The results showed that watson is the first choice among advertising-financed news portals for more and more people in French-speaking Switzerland. "People are coming to stay. And more and more often and in greater numbers," says Feissli.

For Maurice Thiriet, Directeur des Rédactions at watson, the record figures are the result of a consistent multichannel strategy in digital. "With watson.ch/fr, we produce tailor-made for the various platforms and their usage habits. Whether AMP, Instagram, Instant Articles, App, Search or Google News: Our users always find what they are looking for," says Thiriet.

With around 5 million users and 20 million monthly visits, watson is the third-largest advertising-financed news portal in German- and French-speaking Switzerland.
