Permanent SRF employees are not allowed to advertise. Nevertheless, according to the SonntagsZeitung, weatherman Thomas Bucheli advertised a presentation he gave on May 30 at the Iheimisch trade fair in the canton of Nidwalden. The presentation was "under the patronage of Nidwalder Sachversicherung and the Nidwalder Kantonalbank", Bucheli said in a advertising video filmed on the SRF roofwhich the NKB played out on Instagram as sponsored story posts, among other things. In the film, the "SRF Meteo" logo can be seen in the background and the post looks like a "Meteo" program.

SRF spokesperson Andrea Wenger says that the video was unfortunately made without the knowledge and consent of SRF. They will seek a conversation with Bucheli and "discuss the legal requirements and internal regulations regarding secondary employment in detail again."

It is unclear why Bucheli, who has hosted the program since 1992 and has even been the editorial director of "Meteo" since 1995, did not know more about this. It is possible that he assumed that it was not advertising because he was obviously not paid for the reports and the commercial.
