"På spåret" is the name of the show that has been running on Swedish television SVT since 1987 and continues to delight audiences seemingly unchanged. The market share per show in the 2017/2018 season: 64 percent. Unlike most other TV formats, the show is even gaining viewers in the age of Netflix and YouTube.

How the Switzerland at the weekend has found out, SRF seems to be interested in the program. SVT confirmed to the newspaper a cooperation with Swiss television. SRF was looking for dialect-understanding people for the audience in Sweden via Swiss abroad associations. One comes, so the announcement, with Swiss moderators and candidates to Gothenburg.

According to the Switzerland at the weekend the format is supposed to be rather "boring and old-fashioned. The show - which translates as "On the Track" - is all about train travel, guessing cities and riddles. According to SVT, it offers a "modern and fun kind of popular education for the whole family.

However, the Swedish infatuation with the show is no guarantee of success outside the country. In Norway, for example, the format was canceled a year after it was taken over. And even SRF is not yet sure how to proceed with the project. It is completely open whether the project will be pursued further and the show will ever be seen in Switzerland, the broadcaster told the Switzerland at the weekend. (hae)
