This week, the Wochenspiegel appeared for the last time after 36 years. This would have left the Unterland with only one daily newspaper and no weekly regional newspaper. Publisher Andreas Zehnder then contacted local businesses and major advertisers. It quickly became apparent that there was a real need for a weekly title, according to a press release. The title is published with two title splits: Dielsdorf district 18,481 copies and Bülach district 24,054 copies.

The seven-member "Unterland Zeitung" team consists largely of employees who live in the publication area. The editorial team will be headed by Malini Gloor, who lives in the Zurich Furttal and is still employed at Werbewoche until the end of February. The sales team will be led by Manfred Eilers, a native of Bülach. The offices at Feldstrasse 80 in Bülach will be occupied right at the beginning of the year.
