Allianz Cinema: Successful start into new era

The organizers are satisfied. The next edition of Allianz Cinema (formerly Orange/Salt Cinema) in Zurich will take place next year from July 13 to August 13.

Zurich's open-air cinema season is always short-lived and therefore all the more intense and popular. 2016 will go down in history as a mixed summer: The weather made some capers, but open-air cinema visitors know how to wrap up warmly and on rainy evenings the organizers gave away free rain tarpets. Nevertheless, over 48'000 spectators came to the 31 performances.

Switzerland's oldest and largest open-air cinema is known for its exclusive previews. So this year, too, visitors were fed with cinematic delicacies: "Sing Street" kicked things off, "Demolition" focused on sensitive cinema with Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Watts. "Now You See Me 2" brought a magical sequel with a great ensemble of actors (Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Daniel Radcliffe) to the giant screen at Lake Zurich, and with "Mother's Day" a film found its way to Zurich's Seefeld that provided the best entertainment.

The German-speaking Swiss premiere of "Finding Dory" also delivered a highlight. The follow-up film to "Finding Nemo" was eagerly awaited and, despite light rain, the enthusiastic spectators stayed on site until the last minute.

Organizer Peter Hürlimann of Cinerent is fully satisfied with the 2016 edition: "I was delighted with the varied cinema program and the warm summer evenings by the lake. We are all happy and relieved that the renewed rebranding went well and was appreciated by our visitors. Now we go with great confidence into a long-term future with our new title sponsor and start planning for 2017".
