By contrast, the development of customer numbers in broadband service, fixed-line telephony and digital TV was down, the telecommunications company announced on Friday. As of the end of June, UPC had 56,000 mobile subscriptions. At the same time, revenue in this business more than quadrupled year-on-year to CHF 12.7 million. Compared to the first quarter of 2016, the number of subscriptions increased by over 36 percent. In contrast, compared to the same period last year, subscriptions in the broadband service decreased by 0.4 percent to 744,000, in fixed-line telephony by 0.6 percent to 498,000 and in digital TV by 1.1 percent to 1.26 million. In its statement, UPC nevertheless speaks of a successful course of business. The B2B segment played a key role in this, accounting for 11 percent of total sales. The Autostrada investment program also remains on track, with 20,000 additional households connected in Switzerland and Austria. UPS intends to counteract the declining figures in the TV segment, Internet and telephony by continuing to invest in products and expanding its distribution area. (SDA)
