Massively fewer clicks at SRF

In December, SRF merged the Drs.ch and Sf.tv sites. Since the redesign, SRF has now recorded significantly fewer page impressions.

This is what Aargauerzeitung.ch writes on Thursday. According to figures from the independent Swiss measurement institute Net-Metrix, Srf.ch generated 15.8 percent fewer page impressions last December than Drs.ch and Sf.tv combined. The comparison of January 2013 with the same month last year is even more massive: The slump in page impressions is a minus of 29.2 percent.

SRF is not worried about the decline: "Unlike an Internet newspaper, page impressions are not central to SRF, as the focus is on our core business of audio and video," writes company spokesman Jonathan Engmann in response to an inquiry from the Aargauer Zeitung. At the same time, SRF points to the increase in unique clients. As Engmann tells the Aargauer Zeitung, Srf.ch recorded an increase of around 100,000 unique clients from December 2012 to January 2013. But before that, the number of hits had already fallen by 264,000 from November to December 2012.
