Benjamin Geiger takes over ad interim overall journalistic management of the Zürcher Unterländer

Benjamin Geiger is also taking over the journalistic management of the Zürcher Unterländer on an ad interim basis. The 47-year-old succeeds the previous editor-in-chief Steffen Riedel, who is seeking a new career direction after nine years at Zürcher Unterländer.

The Zürcher Unterländer and the Zürichsee-Zeitung are both part of the Zürcher Regionalzeitungen newspaper group. Under the overall journalistic management of Benjamin Geiger, local news from the communities of the Zürcher Unterland is to be given greater emphasis, according to a press release issued on Tuesday. In addition, closer cooperation between the still independent editorial teams of Zürcher Unterländer and Zürichsee-Zeitung in the areas of planning, processes and administration is to be examined. The aim is to strengthen the Zürcher Unterländer both journalistically and economically and to expand the dialog with readers.

Benjamin Geiger has worked for the Zürichsee-Zeitung since 1993. From 1999 to 2001 he was head of the regional editorial office in Horgen, before becoming editor-in-chief in 2002. After the takeover of Zürichsee-Zeitung by Tamedia, he also headed the project to merge the local editorial offices of Zürichsee-Zeitung and Tages-Anzeiger.
