SSM concerned about sale rumors of Tele Züri and Radio 24

The Swiss Syndicate of Media Professionals is concerned about the circulating rumors that Tele Züri and Radio 24 could be sold by Tamedia to political actors and appeals to Tamedia's publishing responsibility.

For several days now, there have been reports about a possible sale of Tele Züri and Radio 24 by Tamedia. Political exponents from SVP-affiliated circles have been mentioned as possible buyers. The sale of the two stations is to be seen as an entrepreneurial decision by Tamedia and will not be commented on further by the SSM. The Swiss Syndicate of Media Professionals SSM wrote this in a statement.

The SSM is concerned that Tele Züri and Radio 24 could pass to owners with political objectives, which would lead to a worrying development in the Swiss media landscape, it continues. The SSM therefore appeals to Tamedia's publishing responsibility to sell these two stations to media-oriented and journalistically-minded circles. The independence of the media is at stake if they end up in the hands of owners with political or economic policy goals.
